An estimate is only as current as its prices. A structured, dated price database is the difference between a live estimating capability and a stale spreadsheet.

Sourcing prices

Keep history

Do not overwrite โ€” keep the old price with its date. A price history lets you compute escalation, defend a rate to a client, and spot a supplier’s outlier quote.

Currency

For international work, store a base-currency price and convert at estimate time, or store per-region local prices. Never mix currencies in one rate build-up without noting the conversion date.
